The Hooch opened its doors in 2020 as the little sister venue to the long established Hoochie Coochie bar & live music venue on Pilgrim st, Newcastle upon Tyne. Hoochie Coochie's mission was to be the independent home of Black music in Newcastle (Soul, Funk, Jazz and Disco). We brought you some of the biggest names in the world to play live in the North East...Gregory Porter, Chaka Khan, Angie Stone, Candi Staton, Soul II Soul & some of the world's best DJs: Dimitri From Paris, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Dave Lee, John Morales, Norman Jay...The list goes on! The Hooch on the otherhand, was thoughtfully designed to bring Newcastle the same funky atmosphere and music but on a smaller scale, a little more intimate and chilled out. Our aim is always to offer unbeatable customer service from our fantastic team, a unique and stylish setting to relax in while keeping the music we love at the heart of our ethos. With regular live DJs every week and our 'Tiny Bar Gigs', we hope to create a space unlike anywhere else in town. Even when there's no live music, we take our playlists seriously too. With a nod to our Scottish roots, we have one of the largest collections of Scottish gins you'll find anywhere along with our incredible range of Single Malts, some of the most delicious cocktails you'll find in town (many of them exclusive to us), great coffee, fresh snacks, small plates and sharing boards that perfectly compliment a glass of wine or a cold beer. As you kick back and enjoy all this, you can watch the world go by as you overlook some of Newcastle's most iconic views of our beautiful Quayside and bridges.
